1985 911 engine surge when cold

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera; Year: 1985; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2 liter stock; Total Mileage: 96k approx;

Chris,I am experiencing an idle surge issue, mainly when the car is cold. The car is mainly for weekend use, when I start the car, I get a pronounced surge in idle for about 5 minutes. Once the car is really warm, the problem is much less pronounced. My mechanic just had me replace the solinoid for $200 and said that would solve the problem, however, it has not. He asked that I bring the car back in for adjustment. It should be noted that the car has a chip (before I bought it) and oxygen sensor has been disconnected. Per my mechanic that should not create problems long term. Since I have replaced the solinoid, the idle seems to be pretty flat once warm, but I have only driven the car a couple of times since the new part was put in. I know that you have answered questions similar to this, but none exactly like this with the oxygen sensor unhooked. FYI, what I believe to be the oxygen sensor is on the left side of the engine bay and has three plugs, two male and one female.Any thoughts? Keep up the good work, I like reading your replies.Todd
