1985 944 bumper mounted fog lights

Vehicle Information: Model: 944; Year: 1985 / 2; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 126,000;

I was just trying to find out some model differences and history. My 944 is supposedly a European model, and the front bumper is differnt than all the other ones I've seen around. Instead of having the two distinct foot long plastic caps on the bumper it has two small 4 inch caps on either side of two driving lights and the blinkers. You can tell it was made to fit a long euro license plate, and I've seen pictures of the euro models that match it in Michael Cotton's 968/944/924 collectors guide. However, my model also has the fog lights built into the front spoiler like the American versions, and I can't find any pictures of this combo. Right now the high beams turn on the lights in the bumper, and the foglight switch isn't hooked into anything so the spoiler lights are useless. I would like to piece together a history of this beauty, and I'm just baffled. If the spoiler is a late replacement do you think it is possible to replace it with the traditional euro style it came with (if thats the case)? What about the smaller caps, which have taken a beating over the years?
