I have the head, exhaust- and intake manifolds removed, and I want to install new motormounts. I have had them now for some time and since I am doing all of this work, might as well install the mounts. The Haynes manual describes a rather complex undertaking like, removing stabilizer bar, remove steering shaft, loosening crossmember, powersteering line etc. From my point the only thing which is not accessible is the single nut on the bottom of the motor mount. That is obscured by the mounting bolt and rubbergrommet of the lower A arm. The rest of the motormount bolts are very accessible. Could the mounting bolt on the A arm be removed and the arm sufficiently lowered to allow the nut to be removed? The rest of the mount and crossmember bolts can be loosened and removed. Applying a little pressure to the finned oilpan using a woodblock and jack allows sufficient movement to take the weight off the mounts and to replace the mounts without going through all the other stuff. Is this a viable way of doing this job or am I asking for more trouble then I already have?
