1987 844S Alignment after part replacement

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944S, M474 sport; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 227,xxx;

I am changing control arms on 944S with M474 shocks. Question on needing an alignment after replacing control arms - Can I mark all locations and install new control arm to those marked locations? Let me tell you my experience with a new steering rack and tie rods - replaced all 100K ago: I marked many locations with an awl (lightly) and recorded the angular rotation of the tie rods off and repeated same when installing new. Five sets of perfectly worn tires, 100+K mi, and no uneven wear or shimmy (110 mph) WGI DE. I put general use, but I use the car for everything - It is great and gets good gas mileage Info on door strap thread replacement:Found a really nice solution to stripped threads for the door strap attachment; this does not involve removing the fender and takes about fifteen minutes and $10 - $20. I would be glad to send this for other 944 pca members. Let me know and I will email in all the specifications.
