1987 911 Carrera A/C Refrigerant Alternatives

Heating and Ventilation

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1987; Body Type: Convertible; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 68,000;

I have been faithfully paying (a lot!) for R12 freon about every 2 years.It inevitably leaks out. Having recently moved, it is now harder tofind. The A/C system could probably use new seals, dryer, etc., butbefore replacing parts which externally appear fine, I want to considerusing a propane product called Duracool 12a (www.duracool.com). This isless expensive than Freon and promises better cooling than R134a. I amhowever, aware that this stuff is flammable. Are you aware of anyoneusing it in a 84-89 911? Considering the stock non-barrier hoses, is thisa prescription for burning up my car?
