1987 911 Carrera black/white smoke at idle and low rpm's

Fuel System

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carerra; Year: 1987; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2l cat bypass and chip; Total Mileage: 96,000;

Car idles smoothly. No hesitations. Acceleration smooth and strong. Engine does not miss. The problem is that occassionally on idle or at low rpm's (2,000)black/white smoke can be seen belching out of the exhaust pipe. In a few moments it will clear on its own.Head Temp sensor has been replaced as has the O2 sensor. However, the O2 sensor was not the original type with connector attached. It was a Bosch 3-wire univeral sensor. Wires had to be cut and spliced. Problem is minimized when O2 sensor is disconnected. Could the universal O2 sensor be defective? What other components should be checked that could cause this smoking problem? Car does not use oil. (2000 miles/Qt.)
