1987 911 Carrera Oil Consumption

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 carrera; Year: 1987; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2L; Total Mileage: 68,000;

Is it normal for my car to burn one quart of oil every 250 miles? My mechanic told me that it's normal for the car to burn one quart every 250-500 miles. He also told me that the car, when new would burn one quart every 600 miles. I use 20w-50 in the car now. This is my first 911, and I know that it's a different animal. Another mechanic also told me that it's normal for the car to burn one quart every 500 miles. There is no sign of leakage or smoking while driving. There is smoke at start up, but from what I've heard that's normal.
