1987 924S Extra part

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 924S; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 60,000;

My 924S had an excellent transmission is every aspect except 1st gear synchro. Having done several 901s and 915s, this project should be easy. Not so!. Quite a different animal, but I pressed on and made it to first gear and replaced the synchro. After accounting for all parts, I had one of the heavy spring shift rod detante assemblies with no place to go. I tripple checked the three shift rods to be sure that they were all in place and they were, One under each rod below the 6mm allen head plug and the final one under the 14mm head plug on the final shift rod. The trans seems to work fine, but this unacounted for part is concerning. Perhaps in the "hanging reverse" assembly. There was also a lighty sprung assembly that doesn't seem to do much on the top of the transmission over the main selector assembly, but I don't see that this part could go any where in that area. Also on the hanging reverse, Is there a exact depth for that lever to hang on the philips head bolt, I left room for the reverse fork to activate it, with a little room to spare from the top of the intermediate plate. Hopefully I have made an understandable discription for you to decipher.
