1987 924S Sensor on oil pan?

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 924S; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 100000;

I am trying to locate a small oil leak. In the process of cleaning up so I could ID the leak I came upon this sensor located at about 1 o'clock and 2-3" above the drain plug. It has a yellow electric lead and a rubber boot. I notice oil oozing from this and realized the hard plastic sleeve below the boot is broken. I pulled the plug of and there is a 3/16 sized stem that goes into the boot. Is this supposed to ooze oil? I am assuming this is the oil temp sensor? I tried to find it in my Factory manual but couldn't, so I could not ID it.What is it and what harm is it leaking? My pressure is good always 4.5 to 5 bar, the oil light comes on at half way on the dip stick and lower. My oil consumption is about a pint a week or longer. No dripping on the floor either. The housing this plug attaches to is somewhat oval,1.5 " and (2) 5mm or so hex screws. However there is a moderate amount of oil in and around this area on the drivers side,but not certain it isn't from leakage dissapated over a period of time or else where?
