1987 930 Turbo

Engine

Vehicle Information: Year: 1987; Engine (Size, Modifications): 3.3 TURBO K27, HKS VALVE TIMER, EXTRA FUELER,B&B EXHAUST; Total Mileage: 45250;

RECENTLY I PURCHASED THE CAR @45150 MILES, I KNEW THE TOP END NEEDED TO BE DONE DUE TO THE SMOKE ON COLD START UP AND A LITTLE MORE VALVE TRAIN NOISE THAN I AM USED TO HEARING...THE PREVIOUS OWNER SWEARS ALL HE HAS USED IS PREMIUM SYNTHETIC OIL(MOBIL 20-50W)ALL RECORDS INDICATE FLAWLESS MAINTAINENCE HISTORY. MY MECHANIC STATES THAT IF I CHANGE TO A NONE SYNTHETIC BLEND THAT A LOT OF START UP SMOKING WOULD DIMENISH AND THE TOP END IS'NT AS TIRED AS I THOUGHT. ALSO WHEN I PUT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN FOR SMOG CERTIFICATION,ALL COLD START UP SMOKE IS GONE WITH THE CAT OUT IT SMOKES ON START. IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THIS OR IS DUE TO NO SMOG EQUIPMENT?
