1987 944 High oil pressure

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 80000;

Purchased used 1987 944 with 80,000 miles. Dealer changed oil and filter. Everything appeared to be functioning properly. Oil pressure 2 bar at idle, 4 bar at highway speed, approaching 5 bar under spirited operation. Changed oil to Mobil 1 15W-50 and attended local PCA event at Lime Rock Park. Everything appeared OK. Next day drove to work and on way home noticed oil pressure was at 4.5 bar while idling at stop light. Checked oil level and was a bit low (1/2 qt). Checked water level, ok. Decided to change oil and filter thinking possibly track day dislodged sludge or something and plugged filter. With new oil Mobil 1 10W-30 and new filter, same issue. Oil pressure at idle 4.5 bar.Thinking possibly oil sending unit had internal failure (bias spring) purchased and installed new sending unit; still high oil pressure. Also checked operation at other points and feel confident pressure indicated is real.My thoughts are a stuck oil pressure relief valve or collapsed oil cooler; but I am just guessing at this point.I tried to order the Porsche shop manual but found out it is out of print and not available.I would like to fix this myself seeing that the cost to have a dealer fix it may approach the cars value.Questions:1.Is this a problem?2.Is this a typically occurring situation?3.What could be causing this?4.How can I check/diagnose?5.Can you direct me to an oil system schematic?6.Is vehicle safe to drive? Around driveway, 10 Miles (to garage), 20 Miles (to dealer) or does it need to be towed.7.Could / should I just drive it and see if it goes away? (re. question 1&6)8.Can the oil Heat exchanger (cooler) be removed with the engine still in the vehicle after removing exhaust? Or does engine need to be dropped?
