1987 944 Intermittent high idle

Fuel System

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 248,000;

Over this last winter we had one exceptional day when it very cold and having trouble starting the car I noticed the ends of the fuel lines were sweating a bit of fuel. This isnt my question but leading up to that time I had no issues with my idle. That morning I did give a little tighten to those lines just incase something could go wrong. After that morning I do get a occational high idle, most of the time around 1500, and sometimes as high as 2K. The biggest issue for me is when in gear and in traffic when I lift throttle you usually get imediate drag from the engine to slow down. Now I get a bucking from time to time, as if the dampener is occationally kicking into the slower normal idle. Whats the best way to check the valves at the ends of the fuel rail?
