1987 944 Sunroof and unrelated rattle

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 35,000;

1.sunroof removal: I know the correct way to remove it with the ignition in position one and depressing the sunroof button to back out the arms. After winter storage, I now have to go thru 2 steps to get the arms to back out. First the usual position one with the ignition, depress the button for the roof and the arms start to back out then stop. To get them to move the rest of the way I have to go to position two with the ignition and push the sunroof button to the close position and then the arms finish to the backed out mode so the roof can be removed. I can live with this but it is not right. Are the microswitchs near the sunroof motor out of sync or is the sunroof switch faulty?2. I have a buzzing rattle that seems to be coming from the back end of the cat converter. I have had the car checked by various Porsche mechanics and they have adjusted heat sheilds with no luck in curing this noise. I have only 35,000 miles on this car. I find it hard to believe the converter is gone already. It vibrates at about 3200 rpms on hard acceleration and at idle. Step up the rpms and it stops. The car has had motor mts. If the converter is gone, would you use a bypass pipe or oem converter to replace the bad one?
