1987 944 Turbo Boost guage--vacuum leaks

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 951; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 21,250;

I don't know exactly how to read the boost guage on my 951. Car runs fine, boosts full ~1.8 bar. However at warm idle the needle hovers just at or a *tiny* bit above the first line on the guage. Someone told me that that indicates a vacuum leak and therefore a boost "leak" also. I've had a couple of these cars, but previously haven't really noticed if the guage on previous ones actually sat at the dot on the dial--full left or whether my condition is normal or within specs. My mechanic says he has seen non-leaking cars read as mine does and doesn't think the factory guage is particularly accurate. This was in response to a 5-minute check of all the obvious vacuum lines, but no extensive testing. Should I stop worrying and enjoy it, or check it further for possible vacuum leaks?
