1987 944S Torque tube bearing replacement

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944S; Year: 1987; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 130000;

Where or who replaces the bearings in the torque tube? There are front and back. My Porsche shop dosn't have a clue. The back is dry and starting to grind. Also, the front of the shaft where the pilot bearing goes seems to be smaller than the bearing. It shows no sign of wear. How important is it to have a snug fit? Is there an oversized pilot bearing?Also, the splines on the shaft have no wear but the new clutch splines go on loose. I expected it to be a snug fit.Note: this is a Hybird, installing a LS1 V8.
