1988 944 Electrical Problem

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944; Year: 1988; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 156,000;

In my 944, I have for some time kept my cell phone plugged into my cigarette lighter 24/7 via a power cord. In the 944, the cigarette lighter (I believe?) receives constant power - ignition on or off - and has kept the phone charged and operational. Recently - and I thought unrelated - my passenger compartment dome light quit working both with car door opening and via the light switch. I pulled the light fixture out to replace the bulb, but the bulb looks good. About the same time, I noted that - upon opening EITHER passenger door - the cigarette lighter loses power (noted from the phone shutting off) and the dash clock loses power (the visual display goes out and the clock loses time for as long as the door is open). Upon closing the door, both work fine.Can these two problems (dome light and lighter/clock) be related? Any ideas about this "electrical gremlin". I don't know where to start - electrical short somewhere, switch, etc.?
