1988 944 TurboS (951) upgrades

Suspension

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944 Turbo S (951); Year: 1988; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 195,000;

I own a 1988 944 Turbo S with 195,000 carefully maintained miles. The front, driver's side shock recently leaked and must be replaced. I have been very active in auto-x and, during this past year, have again become active in drivers ed. My questions are:1. Should I replace the front shock with original or would it be more effective to replace all shocks with higher performance, after market suspension components?2. Is there a real advantage to installing coil overs in the rear?3. Given the mileage on the car, and the fact that it is well maintained and the main bearings were recently replaced as a precautionary measure, would you expect that the installation of chips and mass flow air sensors would hasten any engine damage? I understand that this is only an opinion.4. Are ther any other upgrades that you would recommend that would make the car more stable for DE events? Any recommendations would be appreciated. I am running Kumho Victoracers on 17" wheels.Your help is greatly appreciated.AJD
