Bet you've heard this before ;-) -> 1989 Carrera 3.2 Coupe. When traveling over 75mph there is an annoying rattle that comes from what feels like the steering column. The car only does this when driving straight. If it's rattling and you make a slight left or right turn of the steering wheel the problem goes away. I've already replaced the fabled plastic steering bushing, trying both the original plastic and the newer "928" metal part, which doesn't fix it. I've replaced it with a new one 3 or 4 times just to make sure. I've also tried swapping the front tires/wheels (stock 16" Fuchs) with a set from my Dad's 80' SC (same size) with no change. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Tie rods? The car drives like a dream and is absolutely solid accept for this one issue.
