1989 944 S2 Driveline rattle on decel

Transmission

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944 S2; Year: 1989; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 70,000 mi;

My 1989 S2 makes a loud driveline "rattle" from the rear of the car under decel in any gear. It occurs only after the car has been driven for a few miles, and then will continue to occur (only under decel), after the car is warm. Its made this noise since I purchased the car a year ago with 60K miles. Since then I've had the clutch replaced (bad rubber center) and recently had the trans rebuilt to install limited slip. All syncros and bearings in the trans were replaced at the same time as well as setting up the ring pinion backash back to spec, etc... I always assumed this noise was a bad bearing in the transaxle - but to no avail, the noise continues even with the new trans. Now I'm thinking torque tube bearings. It definetly does not sound like a CV joint or wheel bearing to me. I've searched for help on this problem, but cant find anything specifically related to decel noise. Any thoughts on this? Please dont tell me to take it to a "Porsche Specialist" - thats why I'm asking you!
