1989 964 engine swap to a 96 3.6 varioram

Vehicle Information: Model: 964; Year: 89; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 82,200;

Hi Joel, I am a huge fan of reading your response to questions for Porsheholics like myself, I have owned 3 911 since 1980. As an avid Porscheholic, I am also very much a do-it my self mechanic who know my limitations and love to work on my car. My car is now at that stage that a top end build is needed as my car is leaking oil a fair amount though not untollerable. The engine runs strong and hard, but I have the opportunity to buy another engine outright and just do a swap. My question is this...The engine I am able to buy is out of a 96 993 with 47,000 mile which was in an accident, the seller is German Auto Dismantlers and they claim the engine has been run and a leak down test done showing less that 4% total and when I asked if there were any signs of leaks they said no...The engine comes complete with ECU brain, ECU harness, complete exhaust, clutch, twin coil pk., immobilizer and ingition moudules all the $3500.00 including the cost of shipping. What do you think? good deal, bad deal? I look forward in hearing back from you.Thanks,Rick
