1989 964 Oil Leak

Vehicle Information: Model: C4; Year: 1989; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 92500;

Things were going fine until this month. I started noticing a lot more oil on the ground under the right rear of the car, and I have been tracking oil additions. About every 40 days (or 700 or so miles) I was having to add a quart. Took it to the shop, and they told me that the timing chain covers are hemmoraging oil. To re-seal these (as well as replace the "dog bone" other seals in that area) my mechanic will charge me about $2000. But - in talking to him, we can change these seals, re-seal the bottom end, change the valve guides, change the valve cover seals, do the rings, hone the cylinders and all that for $6000. So - here are my questions. First - is that worth it? What is the better deal? I'm anticipating the valve guide problem that the 964's are prone to. Also - if I have the major work done, what's the next most likely thing to fail? Remember - I just had the condenser on my AC die and replaced, so that major hurdle is over. Is the valve guide thing the last major thing? Please let me know.
