1989 964 stalls on warm restart

Engine

Vehicle Information: Year: 1989; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.6, Stock; Total Mileage: 52,000;

In general, the car runs fine. However, if it's warm and I shut it off, on restart it will die repeatedly. I have to hold the engine rpm at idle manually with the throttle until I've driven a couple of blocks (then it idles normally). After cooling off completely, it will start and hold a moderately increased idle as could be expected with a cold engine. This only happens on warm restarts. Any suggestions?
