1990 964 cylinder heads


Vehicle Information: Model: carrera; Year: 1990; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 100.000;

I am in the middle of a rebuild on my 964 engine. Everything looks good, I've purchased the late cylinders and pistons from Mahle. I have ARP for the rods. My first question is are the stock cylinder studs OK to use in a street motor? They look fine, the epoxy coating is good. A porsche machinist and engine builder told me that they are perfectly good to use, don't waste your money on ARP. I respect his opinion alot but I also here a lot of different opinions on the subject. He also told me that Porsche did have a lot of problems early on with the dilavar and other studs but solved the problems and the 964 studs are fine. My second questions is is the dow 730 a better sealant than the loctite because it is thicker? I want an oil free 964 engine? For the amount of money I am spending, this does not sound crazy.
