1991 944 S2 Airflow meter fault code

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 944S2; Year: 1991; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 23400;

The check engine light on the car came on with the car running rough. When checking for the fault code via blink code of check engine light a code of 1121 comes up. The factory manual shows this as airflow meter. Going through the electrical test in the manual everything checks ok, supply voltage of 4.95Vdc, voltage to ground of 257 mVdc, and voltage varies smoothly between 0.24 Vdc to 4.9 Vdc when moving the paddle.I don't find anything in the manual on physical inspection of the flowmeter though. The paddle on the inlet side is straight and square however the paddle on the outlet which I understand acts as a damper appears to be bent/twisted slightly (~ 1/8") so that it isn't square to the flowmeter wall. I don't believe the car has ever backfired but I could be wrong. This doesn't sound right but I don't just want to throw parts at it. Is this ok? I can send a photo if needed.If the flowmeter is bad is there a hot wire/film type meter conversion that you would recommend?
