1991 964 C2 rear axle CV Boots [Revised to note C2, rear only]

Suspension and Steering

Vehicle Information: Year: 1991; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.6L; Total Mileage: 59000;

I sent my axles out for replacement of CV's and boots. At a Drivers ED event both boots on the wheel sides failed. I tried to order 4 new boots for replacement. The type that was on the rebuilt was a soft thin rubber (after market). An orginal Porsche boot appears to be much thicker harder rubber. Now for the problem...The axles I currently have require a different boot for the trans side vs wheel. The trans side has a ring in the CV cover to help hold the boot. On the wheel side the ring is not present and therefore, the boot will not lay flat and seal. Per Porsche dealer and after market suppliers all show the same part number for trans side and wheel side. Do you know from what year and type of car these axles would match? The axles do fit the car. And by-the-way the supplier that did the past rebuild is no longer in operation.
