1993 964 rear spoiler, REVISED

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1993; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 60,800;

I am having problems with the rear spoiler. Sometimes it works sometimes not. There is a whole variety of things going on. I can drive the car for 2 hours and it will function perfectly. Other days a mile down the road no deal and the warning malfunction lights come on. I know that the motor works because I can raise it with the manual switch. I have tried adjusting the gear mechanism on the underside of the spoiler but it eventually goes out of alignment. THe dealer diagnosed a microswitch at a cost of 206.dolls, and says it may also need additional diagnosing and parts. I just know that I will have to spend several hundred dollars.Since the car is older I want to install an aftermarket spoiler that I have seen in the mid america catalog. It has a direct application for my car and looks very cool. I have read the countless e-mails on how to defeat the warning lights. The most popular solution being to disconnect the relay looking apparatus just to the right of center under the dash. I did this and the warning light still came on at 50 mph!!!!!! Can anyone tell me is there some switch and or wire or something attached to the tranny? since it is programmed to activate at 50 mph. thanks, frustrated with rear spoiler /
