1993 968 Sunroof

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 968; Year: 1993; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 71,000;

I have stripped sunroof gears. I have removed the gears and the lifting arms. With them still out, in ignition position 2, the limit switches work correctly. In position 1, limit switch works properly when locking, but when depressing the rear part of the rocker switch, I hear a clunking noise and the motor keeps running. Since it doesn't seem logical that the limit switches would work properly in ignition position 2 and not in position 1, I'm puzzled. I've been told that the physical contact of the round pegs on the lifting arms with the element housing is what stops the lifting arms when unlocking the roof to remove it and the torque on the motor slip clutch is too high.
