1994 968 Engine temperature cycling


Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 968; Year: 1994; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 55000;

The temp gauge has always been at the 1st tick mark, but recently it has begun running a bit hotter, and cycling. The temp cycles from between the 1st and 2nd marks to just above the 2nd mark, rising whenever the engine is under load, but has never gone into the red. I have verified the fans, temp sensing switch on the radiator, and fan relay are good, and that the radiator surface is not full of bugs, etc. At about the same time I got a code for the throt. position potentiometer. Could that be causing these symptoms, or is more likely the thermostat? In replacing the TPP, does it need to be adjusted like the TPS did, and if so, how (nothing in my Fact. Serv. Man.)?
