1994 968 Warm running

Vehicle Information: Model(924/944/968): 968; Year: 1994; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 110000;

The engine seems to have started running warmer than usual over the last several months. It normally runs in the middle of the temp gauge, and it was not until this summer, running the AC that I noticed it is running up to the last white bar. It doesn't go into the red, has plenty of coolant, oil, etc. The only thing that concerns me is that one of the cooling fans continues to run on high for maybe 10 minutes after shutting off the engine.Question, when the water pump starts to go, does it always make noise or leak, or could this problem be reduced flow from the water pump? Or, could this be the thermostat? Is there any way to determine if it is stuck closed (or almost closed) without removing it? I'v had to replace them before in 944's and 951's, and I imagine this is the same.
