Yesterday, I was installing a new camshaft chain and guide pieces. Having the factory workshop manuals, I prepared all the "special tools" required to do the timing adjustment (bearing saddles, dial gauges etc). It is required in the adjustment procedure, that the variocam tensioner be pressurized with aprox. 45Psi (continuous compress air). When I do that, there was no movement on the piston. I noticed a lot of air bleeding through the vent hole. Any way, I remove the air pressure and complete the adjustment procedure. My questions are:It is normal to those variocam tensioners to bleed a lot of air through the vent hole and no movement when pressurized? Can I do the timing adjustment without air pressure in the tensioner?
