1995 993 A/C doesn't cool after getting wet

Heating and Ventilation

Vehicle Information: Model: 993; Year: 1995; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 73000;

I am wondering why my A/C would loose the ability to cool after the car is subjected to wet conditions. I have noticed this dilemma several times after being washed by hand or subjected to rainy conditions. During dry conditions, a thermometer in an inside vent reads in the mid 40 degrees. After being subjected to wet conditions, the same thermometer reads in the mid 60's. Do you have any clue as to why this would happen or where one would begin the search?
