1995 993 C2 Transmission Noise

Transmission and Clutch

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera 2; Year: 1995; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 93000;

This car is a six speed manual, and when I bought this car a few months back I noticed a noise coming from the transmission that I can somewhat feel in the gearshift. It is only at idle and low speeds in low gears, and goes away once the clutch is engaged. My experience with this type of noise is that of a worn out input shaft bearing. Dealer says normal 993 gear chatter. I am having no problems yet with it popping out of gear or being difficult to engage in gear, but I hate the noise. Car does have higher miles at 93k, but has been maintained well and clutch was replaced about 20k miles ago. Am I correct in my guess or are there other known transmission problems that make this noise? Is this something that when I store the car for part of the winter I can drop the engine/transmission and go in and just do a bearing, or is this a situation of having the transmission rebuilt? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you.Adam Tooman1995 Porsche 911 Carrera 2
