1995 993 Replacing the rear main seal

I have a 993 motor and am trying to remove the rear main seal for replacement but the seal will not come out. From what I understand, there is a metal piece impregnated in the seal and it will not budge. How can I remove it without damaging anything. Is there a special tool available?
