1995 993 Steering Noise & Cold weather idle hunting

Vehicle Information: Model: 993; Year: 1995; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 55,000;

I have had my 1995 993 for about a year now. I started noticing now that the freezing weather has arrived that I am intermitently hearing a clunking noise from the front when I turn the wheel during parking (standing still or slightly moving). I have not heard anything while out on the road. It does not look like the wheels are hitting anything, and the steering wheel does not have to be turned too far either way to hear the noise. I have 17 inch factory cup wheels with factory recommended tire sizes. Can this be something that needs greasing? I do not see any grease, oil or fluid leaking in the front area of the car. Also, when the weather is below freezing and the car has been sitting out all day, the idle hunts for about 15 seconds between 500 and 1500 RPM, but the car otherwise runs fine. I have had my dealer check for vacuum leaks, but they could not find anything and said that this hunting could be normal in such cold weather. Is this true? Thank you.
