1996 944 Water in oil

Vehicle Information: Year: 1986; Engine (type, size, modifications): Std; Total Mileage: 79K showing;

I found what I consider a lot of water in the oil. I have replaced the cooler seals, all hoses, heater control valve, thermostat. I have also replaced engine mounts so everything under the engine is loose. In researching the problem I found lots of opinions telling me that I should pull the oil pan and check the bearings. The oil pressure is great 4-5 bar, car never over heated. Is it really necessary to pull the pan and check? Is #2 rod bearing the best one to check? I believe that I drove 50 miles with water in the oil.
