1996 993 C4 engine chip reflashing

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911-C4; Year: 1996; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 106,000;

I am having my car dyno'd, then leakdown and compression checked. It currently burns very little oil and the check engine light is not on. I am considering cat bypass pipes or Fabspeed sport cats. I am also considering a GIAC chip reflashing. The 1996 requires removal of the chip, and a ship to GIAC. In addition, there is a note on their webpage about using a 97-98 DME. With the mods I have done (airbox and exhaust), should I be reflashing? Most of the threads I have read on here about 1996 993s is that the chip is already optimal, and I may get no real gains. I also am aware of the valve guide issues in this model, and that I may expect to hear I need a top-end rebuild after my engine evaluation. Thank you.
