1996 993 Cab Suspension Upgrade

Suspension and Steering

Vehicle Information: Model: 993; Year: 1996; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 46,000;

Hi Joel,I'm finding the ride in my 1996 993 C2 Cab to be a little soft and I'm noticing more roll in the body than I would like. Not knowing much about the relationship of various components, I could use some advice on what upgrades to consider to stiffen the ride and reduce the roll for street driving only.1. What is the life span of stock shocks? Should I simply consider a replacement if they're getting old? 2. How much of the ride stiffness is influenced by the shocks and how much by the springs? Should I just upgrade shocks and leave the springs alone?3. How meaningful is the effect of lowering vs. replacement of the stock height springs with stiffer models? 4. Are sway bars a useful bet, or will the difference not be noticeable in street driving? The ultimate question is: if I want to stiffen the ride and reduce the roll for daily street driving and do so at a reasonable cost, what of the above should I consider and do you have a recommendation for which brands/models I should look at? Thanks.
