1996 993 passenger air bag disconnect procedure

Vehicle Information: Model: 993 ; Year: 1996; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 29,000;

Referring to your 1/9/2003 response below, could you reprint the portion of the procedure in the factory workshop manual for disconnecting the passenger air bag in my 1996 - 993 cabriolet with package shelf option? - I do not have a copy of the factory workshop manual = or, is there now a better solution for disabling the right air bag for installation of a child seat.Thank you.-----------------------------------------------You wrote on 1/9/2003: I need to install an infant car seat in my front passenger seat. I have heard mention of a Porsche Infant seat that has a disabling switch incorporated in it to disarm the passenger side your knowledge does Porsche offer such a disabling device..I would prefer to use my existing infant seat..Thanks for all you do for PCA!Answer:Yes, but not for the 964 or 993 up through 1996, sorry. The child seat detection feature was implemented starting with the 1997 model year 993. Only on the passenger's side, front seat. I hope that's obvious.For earlier cars, my favorite method of disabling it is to disconnect it, following the procedure in the factory workshop manual. You're welcome, any time. Bruce Anderson and the club did a lot for me over the years, so I guess it's just time to give some back and pass it along. Joel Reiser - PCA WebSite - 1/9/2003
