1996 993 Rear Window Seal

Vehicle Information: Model: 993; Year: 1996; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 28000;

My car was referred to a body shop to warranty cover rustthru/chipping around the front and rear window seals. The front window was removed, problem area repaired and repainted without incident,including a new seal.When the rear window was opened, problems were evident. The plastic channel which holds the rear window seal in place is broken in several places. The dealer (unnamed at this time) had jammed pieces of rubber into the areas to help hold the seal in place. According to the dealer, the original owner (who I purchased the car from) would not authorize a "proper" repair which apparently would involve removing the window which could break.I am now faced with the problem of how to properly "fix" the problem. If there is a good answer (short of spending a fortune to completely replace the rear window) I would like to know.The body shop tried using an aftermarket seal, but the seal buckles in the corners and doesn't fit tight to the window in a couple of areas. It's not horrible, but less than desirable for such a great car.Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions you might have would be much appreciated.
