1996 993 -- Third Brake Light Problems

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Model: 993 ; Year: 1996; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 26,100;

Hi -- Just took my 1996 993 into my local dealer in order to have the third brake light (above the rear window) repaired. I was told that no easy fix was available, and that the entire rear window would need to be removed to do the repair (because the wiring runs through the rear window). Does this sound correct? Any easy solutions come to mind? Worried that (i) the rear window may be damaged as part of the removal and/or (ii) the car won't be the same once it is out and back in (on the theory that it can never be done as well as at the factory). Thanks.
