1996 C4S Flywheel confusion

Transmission and Clutch

Vehicle Information: Model: C4S; Year: 1996; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 52000;

Joel,I have been reading the questions regarding the lightweight flywheels and remain a bit confused. I use my C4S mostly for the street but do hope to do a DE someday. My clutch is starting to slip when I get on the throttle in mid-range rpms. I get a kind of rubber band sensation where the rpms increase and then the car catches up. Assuming a clutch replacement is in order I wanted to make the right choice in a flywheel. In 2/03 you didn't recommend the Carrera RS single mass flywheel for street use. In 7/05 you thought a lightweight flywheel and clutch would be worth going for.I have a knowledgable C4S owner who suggested a mid-weight flywheel for street use. He suggested a single-mass flywheel. Is the stock dual mass considered a mid-weight or heavy flywheel? If I still have a dual-mass, and it's in decent shape should I consider replacing it? I bought the car with 44K on it and have little history before that. However with the headers and a need for a clutch at 52K I assume it was ridden hard for part of it's life. What would you recommend? Thanks.
