1997 911 993 Replacement Key UPDATED

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 (993); Year: 1997; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 38,600;

Hey Joel,Here's a new one (maybe) - the plastic housing that holds my key and immobilizer remote has craked and fallen apart (I have the single combined unit, not the separate key and remote). The electronics and metal key itself are both fine, but it's now impossible to turn the key in the ignition without the housing splintering and falling apart. I've noticed that the key itself appears to be integral to the housing, but I'm not sure if this is correct. Given that I don't need to replace the electronics or the key itself, is there a replacement housing available? If not, is there a way to replace the key/housing unit without replacing the electronics (i.e. just install the circuit board and battery in a new key/housing unit)? Thanks. Ben
