1997 993 Big Red Brakes & Undertray Question

Vehicle Information: Year: 1997; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 35K;

My 1997 993 had a big red brake conversion installed from a dealer when new. It now needs pads. I ordered the Turbo pads, but the width is about 1/2 too big. Is there a difference between Turbo brakes and a dealer installed big red brakes? Also, I know the club says to de-install the tray under the motor, but when I dropped it, I noticed that the spark plug wires are fully exposed to the elements. Is that a good thing? Is it worth trying to fabricate something else that would dissipate the heat, but protect the wires ?Thanks again
