1997 993 C2 Coupe Vibration above 80 mph

Transmission and Clutch

Vehicle Information: Model: 993; Year: 1997; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 37400;

I'm submitting this under transmission because I think it's CV joint but it could just as easily be brakes or suspension.I'm getting significant vibration from the rear that starts at 80 mph. I don't have the heart to go above 100 to say if it goes away at faster speed. It doesn't seem like tire balance because that would kick in at around 60 mph and go away as speed is increased. I have brand new Potenza's on the car.Under 30 mpg it seems like there's something there, but not significant or bothersome. At high rpms below 80 mph there's no vibration.I'm thinking CV joints.How can this be diagnosed? If it is CV joint, is this a do it yourself project? Does the rear require alignment after replacing?Thanks
