I just finished cleaning the secondary air intakes(SAI)in my car. A few comments to help others doing this proceedure. I used the proceedure outlined in P-Car to do the cleaning and it worked well. I did however add a few steps which opened up more ports for me. First of all, a 1-1/16 inch open end wrench fits on the SAI valve. Bending and grinding the wrench thinner still needs to be completed. I had one open port on each bank, and compressed air was difficult to blow through. I kept pouring Techtron in the valve tool funnel every day until full and let things soak for a couple of weeks. All ports would show signs of dripping. Some more than others. I would keep blowing compressed air in , but had no luck opening things up. I tried using the 1 1/2 inch rubber plugs, but 20psi of air would blow the plugs right out of the 2 ports that were clear. I then took one of the rubber plugs and drilled a 1/4 inch hole in it and blew compressed air individually bach up into each exhaust. This worked really well, and I was able to get all six SAI's clear by blowing air both ways and adding Techron as I alternated the blowing. By the time I was finished, I could plug off 5 exhausts with the rubber stoppers and blow over 60psi through each SAI. With all the plugs out, I could blow 90 psi through with no trouble at all.Good luck on your cleaning!RandyRegion: Schones LandTotal Mileage: 56,000Car Use: Street use only
