1997 993 Twin Turbo

Vehicle Information: Year: 1997; Engine (Size, Modifications): Stock; Total Mileage: 30000 miles;

I have recently purchased (2 days ago)a 1997 twin turbo, not my first Porsche as I previously owned a 1998 993 C2 Cabriolet. The 97 twin turbo vehicle is in very good shape with only 30,000 miles, I had it inspected and road tested prior to purchase by the local Porsche Dealer I deal with regularly (not where I bought it) and they gave me a "very good" report. The Computer they hooked up to the car stated that the 2 Oxygen sensors were aging and in a "fault" which apparently means I needed to replace them. What do these 2 sensors do and what are the implications/risks if i do not replace them?ThanksDerek
