1997 C4S Slipping Clutch?

I finally found my dream Porsche, except I also found a surprise. Under full throttle acceleration between 4 and 5,000 rpm the engine would bog slightly, tach drop back 200 rpm then pull again nicely. This originally occurred only under full or close to full throttle. The gentleman I purchased it from told me it was the 4 wheel drive hooking up. I felt that it was probably the clutch or engine management program and worked it into the negotiating price. Since I have had it, (about 2,000 miles) it has progressed. Now even at steady speeds 4th gear at 2,400 rpm if I give a little gas it will rev almost sounding like an automatic transmission slipping, the rpm surging to 3300rpm or so without any change in vehicle speed. So I assumed it was the clutch slipping. It does this very consistently now at most ny speed with initial "on throttle". But then after that initial "slip" it hooks up.From a dead stop even with moderately aggressive accelleration there doesn't seem to be an obvious problem. But since this is my first 911 (my first Porsche was a 944) I have no means to compare. What do you think are these two different presentations represent, (dropping back of rpm and surging) are they one in the same or two different problems? Also can you recommend someone in the Baltimore area for repairs. I would eventually like to get into autocrossing.
