1998 911 black finish care

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1998; Body Type: Convertible; Total Mileage: 18000;

I previously owned a 1990 911 in black and recently bought a 1998 in the same color. I have always used 3m hand glaze and p21s wax for the finish . I wash the car with Sonax wash and dry with a p21s towel. With a good coat of wax , I was always able to dry the car perfectly after a wash with no blemishes or marks.With my newly acquired 1998, I am having a bit of a problem. I don't think the previous owner put lots of wax on the car so I did hand glaze and a couple of coats of P21s wax. Here is my problem. When I wash the car, I dry it with the P21s towel (as I have done in the past). Generally the car dries with blemishes or "splotches" in the paint that look like dark marks or stains. The only way I can get rid of the marks is by applying wax or Zymol field glaze to the spot and rubbing it out. Do you have any ideas as to why this would occur? Even if I immediately wipe the water off I get the marks. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
