1998 993 intake valve burned

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 993; Year: 1998; Body Type: Cabriolet; Total Mileage: 51000;

This is a follow to a question I asked on nov.24 concerning low compression in cylinder #5.I have had a factory trained mechanic re check the engine and he found only 70 compression in #5 and scoped it and found a burned intake valve ---and says the engine needs to come out and be rebuilt, i do trust him and plan to proceed. He said that this is the first time he has ever a burned intake valve--that burned exhaust valves are common. What do you think? This is a tiptronic car--that was easily driven and he says the engine needs to be taken to the redline several times a month. With this milage what else would you do to the engine during the rebuild--flow the head-polish intakes-replace rings?? Also do you think the cause could be the distributer? Thanks
