1999-2000 X51 question in Pano

Engine

Vehicle Information: Year: 1999-2000; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: NA;

I just read my latest Pano on a plane last night. I saw a question in the tech session from someone inquiring how to tell if a 1999-2000 996 had the X51 option. You response said to look at the option sticker under the hood.Normally that would work but there was no X51 option in NA for those model years. There was a power kit option in ROW but I'm not sure what the option code was. X51 was not available in NA until the 2002 model with the 3.6L engine. Several vendors like Fabspeed and Carnewal were selling the powerkit as an aftermarket upgrade for NA 3.4L customers. I think the parts were about $10K and the installation ran another $2K-3K. I don't think many were sold or installed due to the $/HP ratio. There is no external way I know of to tell if the engine has been upgraded with the powerkit or not, but as you suggested in your response, due to the expense involved, the owner would surely point this out as a selling feature hoping to recover some of their money.
